The Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre was host this year to 762 students for the annual Armidale Outdoors Orienteering Carnival. This included 9 students in years K-2 from Chandler and Ebor Public Schools who participated in some special activities in the Centre grounds.

PSSA Trophy

The PSSA trophy for best overall school was contested by 666 year 3-6 students from 9 different schools. NEGS Junior School put all their year 5-6 students into the score course with a relatively low average team size of 2.25. The strategy clearly worked for them to edge our Martins Gully, whose overall average team size was somewhat larger. Guyra Central School, participating for the first time in this competition, did well to come in third place.

Individual Trophies

In the competition for individual/team trophies, Armidale City and Martins Gully shared the honours in the Year 5-6 division for both boys and girls. In the year 7-8 division the honours were fairly well spread among the 3 secondary schools participating, while the year 9-12 division was dominated by Armidale Secondary College, clearly benefiting from the combined forces of the two former Duval and Armidale High Schools.
